Misha Vayman is based in Los Angeles as a violinist and dog lover. He primarily performs with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Delirium Musicum Chamber Orchestra, and his genre-hopping band Astral Mixtape. He’s also active in the Los Angeles studio scene, most notably performing on the Avatar 3: Fire and Ash soundtrack, the Paul McCartney and Barbra Streisand single My Valentine, Seth MacFarlane’s album Lush Life: The Lost Sinatra Arrangements, and Porter Robinson's single Everything Goes On.
As part of Astral Mixtape, Misha co-wrote, performed on, and co-produced their 2025 album Biolumy, as well as their 2021 album Astral Plains. Astral Mixtape has twice been in residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts and Creativity, has won the 2023 Astral Artists Competition, the 2024 Beverly Hills National Auditions, and are currently the 2025-2026 Honeywell Arts Fellows, under the mentorship of Grammy winning artist and member of Time for Three, Ranaan Meyer. Astral Mixtape has also scored soundtracks for several acclaimed short films including prizewinners at Cannes and BAFTA film festivals.
As part of the string ensemble Delirium Musicum, Misha has performed on their 2023 album Richter & Glass: Seasons, and their 2025 album Cabinet of Curiosities, released on the Warner Classics label. He also had the pleasure of being a part of their 2023 project Treelogy, a collaboration with leading composers Billy Childs, Steven Mackey, and Gabriella Smith. Commissioned by the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts, Treelogy featured three new commissions honoring nature devastated by recent wildfires. The LA Times called it a “sublime, classical ode to California’s redwoods, sequoias and Joshua trees.”
Personal highlights from Misha’s time with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra include performing the Bach Concerto for 3 Violins alongside LACO concertmaster Margaret Batjer and Jason Issokson, as well as working with artists such as Augustin Hadelich, Christian Tetzlaff, and JIJI. Misha is looking forward to LACO’s upcoming European tour, and the 2027 opening of Kohl Hall at the Colburn School, where LACO will be in residence.
Misha is an alumni of the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Colburn Conservatory of Music, and the USC Thornton School of Music, where he studied with Joan Kwuon, Martin Beaver, and Lina Bahn, respectively. Previously he studied with Zachary DePue, Mauricio Fuks, Kurt Sassmannshaus, and Elena Zaitseva.
